ABOUT THE MUSEUM

Who we are

The We The People Museum is more than a cultural institution—it is a living archive of history, memory, and community. Dedicated to telling the story of people’s lives, struggles, and triumphs, the museum serves as a space where hidden narratives are brought into the light. It stands as a house of documentation, a center for education, and a place of celebration, honoring the voices that have too often been silenced or forgotten. Here, history is not just preserved in artifacts, but kept alive through storytelling, exhibitions, and shared experiences. The museum exists to inspire reflection, spark dialogue, and foster a deeper understanding of the ties that connect past, present, and future.

Our Beginning

The vision for the museum was born long before its doors ever opened. For years, a community of visionaries, historians, and advocates dreamed of a place where overlooked histories could finally be preserved with dignity and care. After years of commitment and planning, the We The People Museum was officially established in 2003, marking the beginning of a journey to create a permanent home for these vital stories. In 2016, the museum welcomed the public for the very first time, transforming vision into reality. From the very beginning, its purpose has been clear: to highlight, safeguard, and amplify a vital part of the national story that too often went unrecognized. What started as an idea has since grown into a powerful cultural landmark, ensuring that these histories will never again fade into silence, but will be carried forward for generations yet to come.

Our Mission — Four Pillars

The mission of the museum is built upon four guiding principles

Explore history and culture through powerful storytelling and immersive exhibitions.

Showcase how these stories have shaped the American identity and the wider world.

Reflect values such as resilience, hope, and spirituality that define the journey of a people.

Collaborate with schools, museums, and cultural institutions nationwide to expand access and knowledge.

“Museums are bridges between generations connecting the struggles of the past with the possibilities of the future.”
